259963 ::: Favorites 2007-05-18 17:39:41 You're right that all rifles do jam and if the guys using them are happy, then who am I to argue! My experience is mostly in the civilian target sector, Bisley etc, so while i've seen and fired service rifles, my knowledge is interest and sport based etc. While we are very accurate at long distances with custom rifles it doesn't compare to actually firing under real pressure of combat. Anyways chears for info it's been interesting. __________________________________________________
armycadets2007 ::: Favorites 2007-05-18 15:42:16 the british sa80 a1 was crap because of a screw up with the cocking handle and the reciver so ejected shells would hit that and it would jam. the a2 however has increased reliablilty and like all rifles will jam but is a brilliant weapon but speaking to soldiers that have used it thy say the bullpup design is not ergonomicaly correct so takes a long time to reload. __________________________________________________
259963 ::: Favorites 2007-05-18 13:30:39 I've heard they suffer jams especially in conditions like in Iraq with sand etc. This is why the SAS insist on the M16 and it's close cousins. While I am sure your statistics are accurate, I do wonder though how many of those who weren't happy actually had experienced these jams and in fact what is the actual scale of reported incidents? I really think British soldiers deserve the best there is, even if this means cutting out some British manufacturers or forcing them to improve. __________________________________________________
armycadets2007 ::: Favorites 2007-05-17 16:55:39 personaly i dont like the sa80 but a survey showed that 93% of soldier in the british army were happy wiv it but only 45% of US soldiers liked their M16 although i prefer the m16 __________________________________________________
259963 ::: Favorites 2007-05-16 17:54:07 The SAS uses only US weapons. As a cadet? you must know that your standard issue sa80 doesn't cut it. That's why the best refuse to use substandard british equipment. My point beingnot to knock British soldiers, they're doing a good job, but to say that a soldier uses the best weapon for the job,a side by side 12 bore or a rusty .22 pistol can be more deadly then the most modern guns. It just depends on the skill of the person using it! __________________________________________________ |
